Holy Cross Health Receives One Million Dollar Grant from The Jim Moran Foundation to Establish the Holy Cross Family Health Center
Center to serve at-risk youth and families
Fort Lauderdale, FL – With a one million dollar grant from The Jim Moran Foundation in commemoration of its 20th anniversary, Holy Cross Health will establish the Holy Cross Family Health Center to improve the quality of life for underserved youth, individuals and families in Broward County.
The Holy Cross Family Health Center will be the preeminent provider of education, prevention, early intervention, wrap-a-round social and behavioral health services, OB/GYN access and treatment of primary care and infectious disease services through innovative approaches in a caring, compassionate environment.
“We will make a real difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in Broward County with a comprehensive continuum of health services available in one unified location,” said Kim Saiswick, EdD, RN, LMHC, Vice President, Community Health & Well Being at Holy Cross Health. “We are so blessed to have the support of The Jim Moran Foundation and appreciate their continued generous commitment to our community.”
The Holy Cross Family Health Center will offer healthcare services that are an essential component of healthcare. Community partners also will provide on-site mental health services to patients and families.
“My husband always appreciated that Holy Cross treats their patients and families with dignity, kindness and respect," said Jan Moran, chairman and president of The Jim Moran Foundation.“We are so happy – and I know Jim would be, too – that this special 20th Anniversary grant will help create more opportunity for Holy Cross to reach out to those who may not otherwise have access to their exceptional care.”
The grant allows Holy Cross Health to renovate the first floor of the Holy Cross building at 5601 N. Dixie Highway that will house the Center. Those modifications will include exam rooms, telehealth consult areas, counseling rooms, group counseling and education rooms, food pantry, clothing closet, storage, restrooms, (shared) community resource rooms, on-site access to pharmaceutical services and waiting areas.
“We will be caring for children, youth, parents and grandparents with comprehensive services all under one roof,” added Saiswick. “We will also add healthcare partners in the future to meet evolving patient needs.”
Expected completion of the Holy Cross Family Health Center is in summer of 2022.
To mark its 20-year milestone, The Jim Moran Foundation has already committed more than $14 million in special grants that reach beyond its traditional funding to support nonprofit partners in Broward, Duval and Palm Beach counties.
