Important Notice
The Jim Moran Foundation's grant application process and funding parameters have changed as a result of the struggling economy. Please carefully review our guidelines before applying for funding.
We recognize that every day you are required to make difficult decisions of who to serve and how to serve because of limited funding and resources. While the changing economy has necessitated that we adjust our giving guidelines, we value and genuinely appreciate your continued passion and commitment to help those who need it the most. As we continue our founder's legacy of thoughtful, compassionate philanthropy, we, too will work hard to make the best possible funding decisions as we look forward to an improved and more sustainable economy.
Grant Making Guidelines
The Jim Moran Foundation has established Grant Making Guidelines to assist organizations in the process of requesting funds to support projects that align with the mission of The Foundation, as follows:
The mission of The Jim Moran Foundation is to improve the quality of life for the youth and families of Florida through the support of innovative programs and opportunities that meet the ever-changing needs of the community.
General Parameters
The Foundation will consider only organizations that have received tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) under the Internal Revenue Code. Additionally, the organizations must be appropriately recognized by state statutes, laws and regulations that govern tax exempt organizations. Grants will be primarily awarded to the Florida counties of Broward and Duval, with the majority of our funding in Browar. Furthermore, The Foundation generally will not consider requests for capital campaigns, capacity building, health care/medical research or event sponsorships. The Foundation will consider requests for operating dollars that do not exceed 50% of the grant request. Proposals for programs that improve the quality of life for those who are at-risk and economically disadvantaged without extenuating medical or developmental disabilities will receive priority consideration. Generally, grantees will not receive consecutive year funding with the exception of multi-year grants.
The Foundation's funding focuses include:
- Domestic violence and child abuse intervention
- Education
- Elder care programs
- Meaningful after school programs
- Youth transitional living programs
Application Process
Qualifying organizations interested in receiving funds from The Jim Moran Foundation should submit a Letter of Inquiry which will be reviewed to determine whether the program meets the giving guidelines and funding focus of The Foundation.
To complete the Letter of Inquiry, please click here
All organizations will be notified within 90 days as to the status of their request. If the program is considered priority funding, The Foundation will invite the organization to complete an on-line Grant Application.* A representative from The Foundation will be responsible for evaluating the request and submitting a funding recommendation to the Grants Review Committee. If the request is approved, the Committee will present a recommendation to the Board of Directors for a final funding decision.
*If on-line access is not practical, please contact The Jim Moran Foundation directly for a hard copy of the application.
Funding and Project Monitoring
Funding of approved projects will be made based on the timeframe established by the Board of Directors at the time of grant approval. In addition, The Foundation representative will be responsible for monitoring outcomes and compliance of the organization with the requirements, if any, established in the commitment letter. The representative will provide a status report on each project, on a semi-annual basis, to the Board of Directors.
I have read and understand the Grant Making Guidelines for
The Jim Moran Foundation and agree to comply with the application requirements.
